Yesterday I reviewed the lastest book from author, Amy Lignor, Until Next Time. If you missed it you can check out my review here.
Today I am pleased to welcome Amy to Rainy Day Ramblings for a guest post.
Welcome Amy! Here are Amy's thoughts on a supernatural fight club!
The Divine Fight Club
One of my most vivid memories is of my grandmother at Sunday dinner. She owned one of those cookie-cutter faces, and her food - Holy BeJeezus! - we are talking the food of the gods atop the Acropolis. But when it was time to cut dessert her serving knife would’ve made Jack the Ripper look like a poor pickpocket. She would stand above
the delicious ending of the meal, wave that scythe around and say, in her cute little voice, “WHO WANTS PIE?!” (This is the point where the cat would leave the room in fear for his life.)
That memory brought to mind the Divine Fight Club that’s coming to pass. The vampires were the ones who began this wave, and series after series has taken us into all the high schools and woodsy, barely lit, rainy areas that this world has to offer. However, there were ‘glimpses’ of a lighter being on the horizon a couple of years back.
Although angels have been mostly ‘fallen’ or, God forbid, worked for the ‘other side,’ they all had one thing in common; they protected the chick in order to attain that broken-hearted love match we all know so well. They also all have an enemy who they need to stop in order for everyone to live happily ever after. Dead, perhaps, but happy nonetheless.
Angels are slowly taking over, but as a writer I always wanted to know…would they even bother? What would the ‘fresh’ angels right off the line really do if they were suddenly faced with humanity and told to solve issues. Would they? And when these Divine beings get into warrior mode, who could kick whose butt the fastest? Would the ‘winged ones’ be totally turned off by the emotions like jealousy and anger that happen down here? And what if the angel’s Divine partner wanted to fight for humans but the angel didn’t? And the biggest question remains: Could a ‘halo’ destroy a ‘fanged one?’ Well…for this one I’m gonna have to give the edge to the Divine. After all, they do come from pretty good stock, not to mention the wings, bright lights and their backup defense really helps.
From YA novels to the movies, there are many exciting battles to think about. Could Edward Cullen outsmart Indiana Jones? Could Patch from Hush, Hush take out the Vampire Academy? And just think about Optimus Prime versus a vampire. It would be really hard to bite Prime. Perhaps you could shatter him into pieces, but chances are Bumble Bee would be right behind him and that fire he could shoot would turn a vamp to dust. Imagining the best battles is fun. Who do you think would make the coolest ‘Fight Club’ match imaginable?
And I also hope you enjoy the new ‘take’ that Until Next Time has to offer. If not, I may turn towards the Stephen King genre, and the next knock on your door could just be my grandmother. As another movie hero once said, “Now, that’s a knife!”
Until Next Time, Everybody.
And now for the giveaway! Amy is giving away one ebook copy of her book Until Next Time. Contest is open to all entrants U.S./International 13 years and older. Please see Contest Policies, for additional information. Fill out the rafflecopter to enter. Good Luck!

'And just think about Optimus Prime versus a vampire. It would be really hard to bite Prime.'
Agreed! ;) Great post! I don't know why, but the idea of a supernatural fight club has me even more excited to be starting this book soon. :D

Heidi, thanks again for hosting Amy today and good luck to all who enter the giveaway.
I know what an intriguing topic, right? I might have to give it to Edward Cullen over Indiana Jones though - just because he would be able to read his mind :)

Edward could never outwit Indiana. It's just not possible. Patch would never be able to take out the Vampire Academy. Dimitri would so stake him before he do anything. Which may or nor be true, but in my head it's true because Dimitri is right up there with Awesome. Best fight...*thinks*...I'd like to see Perry from Under the Never Sky and Mal from Blood Rights go at it. Plus, imagine all that naked muscle *dreamy sigh*
*squee*
Also, your Rafflecopter won't allow any entries. :)

And, sorry I didn't say anything about Angels. Lately I've had a difficult time with them in books because of how they were approached. However, there have been several that I've loved and this one looks so awesome. Plus, I like the whole Fight Club approach to the post. Makes me love the authors writing. :D

@ Yes Sam, agreed Amy might have to write that in her next book.
@Nicole, thank for having me on the tour!
@Jen agreed Indiana Jones would kick Edward's tail, and no one beats up Dimitri!
@ Yes Jen angels have gotten a bad rap lately but Amy tells a great story and I also loved Cynthia Hand's take on them as well!

Okay, now I'm all Team Professor Jones! LOL
And really, I love vampires, but even I know that Optimus Prime would win. But yes, the possibilities are endless and fun to think about.

I like angels that are more towards the traditional, the more unfeeling type, versus angels who are just like humans with wings.

@ Wendy who can decline pie!
@janiera I like angels too, when they are done right and Ms. Lignor writes great angels!
@Anne well these angels are unique but they do have so endearing human qualities. I am interested to see if you like this take on angels!

I like the idea of angels vs vampires. Now that would make for a cool fight!
Posted by: Yvonne Leacy | 02/07/2012 at 11:59 AM
Yvonne agreed maybe Amy can write that in her next book!

Hey everybody! I really want to say thank you for all the comments and the 'fight club' ideas. LOL. I love Optimus Prime - and Bumblebee rocks, I'm not a Twi hater - but I think it would be fun to hear that loud deep voice of Prime as he squished the vamps :) Just a fun sound effect.
I know, my grandma was the real deal. I miss that woman, the angels help though.
Anne - I agree - I do like the traditional version which is why I 'altered' my book. I wanted to find a unique way to present the angels - therefore, mine are of the 'innocent' variety when they come down and not fallen. I hope you like that :)
Yvonne LOL. Not sure if you'll ever see a vamp from me. I am writing a book called Meet The Reaper that does mention the fact that vamps got too popular to keep their place in 'Heck' so they were placed in their own secret location LOL.
The second angel book is all sewn up and I took it in a whole different direction, so Matt, Emily, Jason - let's just say that there are surprises :)
Oh, and one more thing - I LOVED the Lost Boys and I think a fight of those vamps against the current vamps would be a whole lot of fun - I still have to go with the fact that Keifer Sutherland and his crew could beat them in seconds :)

I love reading about angels, Fallen Angels are generally more interesting :)
Posted by: Sarah S | 02/10/2012 at 07:53 AM
Hey there - well...Matt and Emily have their own 'big issue' and big 'love triangle' that's out of the ordinary, so I hope everyone gives them a shot :) It'll be interesting for Em, seeing as that she's one heroine with a soulmate on earth as well as in Heaven. Even I'm looking forward to her choice! Thanks again for the feedback! You guys and this site are really great!
